PlayCat Production Update

September 16, 2006

Performance Catamarans will be the future builder of the PlayCat. Formerly an Escape Sailboats product, the PlayCat will join a lineup of other Morrelli and Melvin designs including the A-Class 2 and NACRA Formula 18.

Pete Melvin, Matt Judge, Dave McCollough and Jeremy Laundergan race 125 miles on the Reynolds 33 catamaran. This year was a slow, light-wind race, but still an excellent ride.

Morrelli and Melvin is providing engineering consulting to Harbor Wing Technologies, Inc. for an unmanned surface vessel. The US Navy and other government agencies are looking at this high-speed, efficient sail-powered, sea vessel as a solution for growing coastal security needs.
